ASSEDO distributes blankets in C’nawabganj

Non-government organization Agriculture Sustainable and Socio Economic Development Organization (ASSEDO) under its Nadi O Jibon-2 project distributed 650 blankets in Narayanpur union and 350 blankets in Alatuli union of Chapainawabganj sadar upazila on Monday. During the distribution of blankets, chairman of Narayanpur UP Advocate Alamgir Kabir, executive director of ASSEDO Rabiul Alam and sub assistant agriculture officer Mominul Islam were present. Before this, ASSEDO distributed 1,500 blankets among poor cold hit people of the aforesaid two unions.

 The district level competition of Jatiya Shishu Poresker Protiyojita 2014 concluded here at local Shish Academy premises on Sunday. A total of 150 students from six upazilas of the district took part in various events. Tasmin Anan Raisa student of class eight Brahmandi Girls High school (Sadar upazila) become champion in the competition. Raisa competed Nazrul, Ucchangha and patriotic song (B group) in the district level final completion. She secured 1st position in all the three songs. Additional Deputy commissioner Narsingdi Suriaya Begum in a function with the chair of Khalilur Rahman Sajib, District Child Affairs officer was held at Shishu Academy premises and handed over the certificates who placed 1st, 2nd and 3rd position in the competition.
Tk 9 lakh snatched in Sylhet city

Criminals snatched away Tk 9 lakh near ATI gate Khadim area in the Sylhet on Sunday afternoon. Shahadat Hossian of Suntack Enargy, a Privet company said, “They attacked us on our way to Mezortila from our head office at the Khadim around 4:15pm,”he said. “They took the money we were carrying.” “We resisted and they opened gunfire. They fled away in a car,” Shaporan police station Officer-in-Charge Shebendu Das said. “We are trying to recover the money.”Managing director of Suntack Enargy Boslur Rashid said Atik and Shahadat were carrying more than Tk 9 lakh and were on their way to Khadim.
Saraswati Puja observed in Barisal

The festival for worshiping Devi Saraswati, the Goddess of literature and culture of the of the Hindu community, observed at the houses of the community and different educational institutions in the city on Tuesday with socio-religious festivals and rituals. The Puja is celebrated every year on the fifth day of the bright fortnight of the month of Magh, as Goddess Saraswati was born on this day. The day is called ‘Vasant Panchami’. Devi Saraswati, who is the goddess of wisdom and knowledge, learning, speech and music, and also the symbol of justice and beauty. Hindu devotees, especially students and youths, celebrated the Saraswati Puja in different educational institutions and temples and houses setting up colorful mandaps and placing the idol of the goddess with different types of sweet meets, fruits and other items and articles of handicrafts. Religious rituals, special prayer, Aroti, discussion meeting, cultural functions also held on this occasion.
Prime Bank distributes blankets among orphans in Rangpur
RANGPUR: Prime Bank Limited (PBL) distributed blankets among the cold-hit poor orphan students of Darut Tazkiya Nurani and Hifzul Quran Madrasha in Mahiganj Khasbag Dohiganj area in the city yesterday. Rangpur Branch of PBL distributed 250 quality blankets among the orphan students of two sections of the madrasha under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme to mitigate sufferings of the distressed students. Vice-president and Manager of Rangpur Branch of PBL Mohammad Ibrar distributed the blankets at a ceremony organized on the madrasha premises as the chief guest. Operation Manager of Rangpur Branch of PBL Rafikul Islam, its Sales Executive Officer Mehedi Masud Polash, Superintendent and all teachers of Darut Tazkiya Nurani and Hifzul Quran Madrasha were present, reports BSS.
