Chattogram Bureau :
Chattogram City Corporation Mayor Rezaul Karim Chowdhury has said that the waterlogging problem will not be acute in the city this monsoon. He made the remarks on Saturday as part of CCC’s crash program, joining Whats App during the removal of solid waste, soil and cleaning activities from a large drain near the Bahaddarhat junction to the mouth of Baripara Road.
The Mayor said that before the onset of the monsoon season, the work of clearing garbage and soil in drains and sewers, including removal of obstructions to normal water flow and drainage in areas where waterlogging may occur, will continue under the crash program.
Besides, the project authorities have been advised to create alternative routes to remove the frozen water from the places where dams have been constructed in Chaktai canal for the implementation of mega projects under the supervision of the army to alleviate water logging.
So this year the water problem will not be evident in the city. CCC’s Public Relations Officer Kalam Chowdhury said patch work was underway at several places in the city under the leadership of Superintendent Engineer Touhidul Islam.
