Chittagong Customs authority has traced water in the imported drums of edible oil in Ctg Port on Tuesday .
These 320 drums of edible oil was imported from china . The samples of the controversial edible oil collected aimed at sending these to the laboratories for chemical examination .
Joint Commissioner of CUA Gias Kamal told the media that on physical examination of 3 containers loaded with 320 drums of oil , they detected water- mixed oil and bad gas smell in coming out from these oil. The authority suspects there are might be a kind of chemicals in the drums mixed with water and oil. For ensuring the existence of any chemical in these drum, samples will be sent laboratories for chemical examination.
These drums were opened on Monday last. Customs soureces said these consignment of oil was handed over to CPA and the processing for releasing the consignments have been suspended. Customs sources said Roza Foods of Dhaka has imported 320 drums of refined edible oil as per their declaration and these containers were unloaded in port shed on September 18 last. Acting on secret information the customs authority opened these container for physical inventory, sources said.
