Wata Chemicals Limited, one of the oldest chemical companies in the country, has added a new sulfuric acid unit (Unit-2) to its Narayanganj plant to meet the rising demand for its products. Textiles and Jute Minister Golam Dastagir Gazi inaugurated the commercial operation of the unit at a function at its factory in Rupgonj Upazila in Narayangonj on Saturday as chief guest.
The new unit has the installed capacity of producing 30 thousands metric tons of sulfuric acid per year. Currently, the company produces 18,000 metric tons of sulfuric acid annually. As a result, the company’s production of sulfuric acid is growing at 167 percent. A total of 48 thousand metric tons of acid will be produced in the existing and new units.
Praising the company, minister said that the present government has been able to take every step of economic development to the highway of development. Which are increasingly spreading to large areas. The government has continued its efforts to take forward various sectors. Among them, various steps are important for the development of the industrial sector.
Golam Dastagir Gazi said, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina taking various steps to improve the industrial sector. Awami League Government Industrial friendly. The present government is trying its best to improve the industry. One of the key drivers of industrial development, the Prime Minister is trying hard to improve power sector.
The minister said that if we want to go to a developed country, we have to do industrialization. Industrialization is on the one hand, on the other prosperity’.
Engineer Mozaffar Hossain, MP of Jamalpur-5 constituency, Shahjahan Bhuiyan, Chairman, Syeda Ferdousi Alam Nila, Vice-Chairman of of Rupganj Upazila Council, Tofail Ahmed Alamash, Mosaddek Ul Alam, Chairman, Nazrul Islam, HM Abdullah, Mahmud Hasan, Subrata Pal, Ziaul Haq, Directors and Ali Ahsan, Chief Financial Officer of Wata Chemicals Company Limited were also present at the event.
In his speech, Management Director of the company Nazrul Islam siad, the new plant has created employment for about 200 people. About 100 engineers and the rest of the staff Produced sulfuric acid will be supplied to different organizations, including the Board for Power Development, WASA. He said that the students of BUET took the help of this company to take technical training.
