Washiqur killing Zikrullah, Ariful put on fresh remand

A court here on Thursday placed detained Zikrullah and Ariful Islam on a three-day fresh remand in the blogger Washiqur Rahman Babu killing case.
Metropolitan Magistrate M Ataul Haque passed the order after M Mashiur Rahman, inspector of Detective Branch (DB) of Police, produced them before his court seeking a five-day remand.
No bail petition was filed for the two accused as no lawyers appeared for them, sources at the court said.

Babu, 26, also an employee of Fareast Travels Ltd, was hacked to death at South Begunbari in Tejgoan Industrial area of the capital.
Police caught Zikrullah and Ariful red-handed with three homemade sharp weapons while fleeing from the place of occurrence.
According to police, Zikrullah, 20, was a student of Hathazari Madrasah in Chittagong, while Ariful, 20, a student of Mirpur Section Darul Ulum Madrasah.
On March 31, a Dhaka court placed Zikrullah and Ariful on an eight-day remand in the case.
The sensational case was transferred to the Detective Branch (DB) of police from Tejgaon Industrial Police Station on the same day.
