The Metropolitan Sessions Judge’s Court of Dhaka yesterday issued warrant of arrest against 23 BNP leaders and activists including the party Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia’s press secretary Maruf Kamal Khan, her personal assistant Shimul Biswas and Azizul Bari Helal in a case filed for torching vehicles in the city’s Mirpur area during the shutdown and blockade programme on March 10 of 2015.

Taking cognizance of the charges against the accused, Judge Kamrul Hossain Mollah of the court passed the order and
fixed November 19 for submission of the report on execution of the arrest warrant.
BNP leaders Barrister Rafiqul Islam Miah, Amanullah Aman, Habibunnabi Khan Sohel and 15 others who are now on bail were present at the court on Monday. Total number of accused in the case was 41.
