Islamic Finance and Investment Limited distributed warm clothes among cold-hit poor people in Nasrotpur high school field under Adamdigi upazila of Bogra district recently. The function was headed by Bogra branch manager of Islamic Finance and Investment Limited Shahadat Hossain. Golam Mostafa, Chairman of Nashrotpur UP, Headmaster of Nasrotpur High School Lutfor Rahman, President of school managing committee Lokman Hossain Babu and local scholar persons were present among others in the function.
Gopalganj Correspondent adds: The reporters of Gopalganj Press Club distributed 200 pieces of blankets among the distressed people of Gopalganj recently. Md Mizanur Rahman, SP. Gopalganj inaugurated the blankets. Md. Manirul Islam ASP (Circle) Md. Shelim Reza O/C Gopalganj thana, reporters of different print and press media were present at the function. The programmee was assisted by police department.
BSS from Rangpur says: Leaders of Mahiganj Bazar Shop Owners’ Association (MBSOA) distributed blankets among 500 cold- hit people including men, women and children at a ceremony at its office here this afternoon.
The blankets were distributed with the assistances of the Noman Associates, Dhaka Bank Limited, Shahjalal Islami Bank Limited, Islami Bank Bangladesh Limited and Association for Social Organisation Development to mitigate sufferings of the poor and distressed people.
A discussion meeting was also organised on the occasion at the MBSOA office premises with its President Mohammad Azizullah in the chair.
Senior Vice-president of MBSOA Shamsul Alam, its Vice- President Golam Mostafa, General Secretary Rafikul Amin Khan, Joint Secretary Mahmudul Haque Mamun, Treasurer Mostafizar Rahman, addressed the discussion among others.
At the end, Advisor of MBSOA Alhaj Mohammad Moktar Hossain Mollah and its other leaders distributed the blankets among the cold-hit people of the area.
BSS from Rajshahi adds: 1,000 more distressed people in Char Alatali and Char Narayanpur Union Parishads under Sadar Upazila of Chapainawabgonj district received blankets yesterday (Monday).
Agriculture Sustainable and Socio Economic Development (ASSEDO) under its ‘Nodi O Jiban Projet-2’ sponsored the warm clothes for the distressed and marginalised community.
Under the corporate social responsibility programme of
Bangladesh Bank, Unnoyan Somonnoy and Concern Worldwide supported the endeavor.
Earlier in January last, the development organisation distributed 1,500 blankets among the cold-stricken people of the hard-to-reach char area.
Main thrust of the five-year Nodi O Jiban programme is to ensure food security of the extreme poor community through involving them in diversified productive and income generating activities.
Under the scheme, the 3144-targeted families were also given seeds of different crops including wheat, black grams, maize, groundnut and potato, 145 goats and 12 sewing machines to recoup their losses caused by the devastated floods in last monsoon.
Upazila Agriculture Officer Dr Azizur Rahman, Narayanpur UP Chairman Alamgir Kabir, President of Local Alliance Shahajahan Ali, ASSEDO Executive Director Agriculturist Rabiul Alam and other officials concerned were present at the distribution ceremony.
Speaking on the occasion, they called for uplifting livelihood condition of the vulnerable char people in Rajshahi and Chapainawabgonj districts.
They said around 30,000 families live in the riverbeds of Padma under the two districts and they are deprived of most of the fundamental rights including education, health and sanitation.
They mentioned that the cold weather made their overall livelihood condition marooned as they are facing more cold bite than that of the mainland.
