Warfare among recruiting agencies hampers manpower export to Malaysia

Feud among recruiting agencies has been hampering the export of manpower to Malaysia, insiders said.
It is learnt that a tug of war is going on among the owners of the recruiting agencies under the Bangladesh Association of International Recruiting Agency (BAIRA) and those out of BAIRA since signing of a memorandum of understanding for creating a scope of sending 1.5 million workers in stages over the next three years between Malaysia and Bangladesh. Malaysian government recently banned the agreement.
Bangladesh Expatriates Welfare and Overseas Employment Ministry along the Foreign Ministry is trying to revive MOU with Malaysia that was signed previously. Bangladesh is looking forward to a possible solution in the days to come, ministry officials said but Catharsis International’s proprietor Mohammad Ruhul Amin, together with Unique Eastern Private Ltd owner Mohd. Noor Ali as second party did an agreement with Malaysian Resources SDN BHD owner as the first party with a view to making monopoly-recruiting business, it is learnt.
In addition, some other recruiting agencies are making contact with Malaysian government high ups as well as subordinate officials in order to attract their maximum interest by forgetting the common interest of Bangladesh and it is considered a bid of waging conspiracy to curb manpower export from Bangladesh.
 Malaysian government discharged its immigration chief Datu Sakeb on Friday for his involvement in such crime and appointed Dato Haji Mustafa as new Director General of the same, BAIRA sources said.
Under these circumstances, Bangladesh government will have to move in right the direction to foster overseas employment with cautious measures and policy. Otherwise the negative influence of unscrupulous brokers and recruiting agents will create stiff barrier to sending of workers to Malaysia, the sources said. The number of recruiting agencies under BAIRA is 1500 and almost 1500 outside it. The total number of the agencies is 3000. But the inner feuds among of the recruiting agencies are so serious that they are creating barriers to sending workers to Malaysia, the sources say.
Under the government MoU between Bangladesh and Malaysia for sending 1.5 million workers, Bangladesh Association of International Recruiting Agency is supposed to be allowed to be involved partially in the process of sending Bangladeshi workers to Malaysia, a government official says.
