The Walton Metropolis FIDE Rating Chess Tournament began at Bangladesh Chess Federation hall-room on Wednesday.
Bangladesh Chess Federation has arranged the nine-day long chess meet under auspices of Walton Group.
A total of 147 chess players are taking part in the nine-round Swiss-League basis chess competition. Of them, top 16 players will get the tickets of the National B Chess Championship.
Senior Operative Director (Head of Games & Sports) of Walton Group FM Iqbal Bin Anwar Dawn formally opened the chess meet as the chief guest, while Vice-President of Bangladesh Chess Federation (BCF) KM Shahidullah, General Secretary of BCF Syed Shahabuddin Shamim, International Arbitrator Harun-ur-Rashid were present as special guests. The competition will come to an end on July 12.
