Some one hundred highly skilled and experienced engineers of Walton, one of the country’s leading consumer based electronics products manufacturer, are taking higher training in the Europe to transfer technology of fridge’ compressors to Bangladesh.
‘Walton’ has managed higher training for its engineers in Europe aiming at setting up a state-of-the art fridge’s compressors production unit in the Walton Hi-Tech Industries Ltd (WHIL) at Chandra in Gazipur.
The authorities said Walton is going to set up a manufacturing plant of fridge’s compressor at the new plant of WHIL, where the world’s latest German technology would be applied to manufacture ultra-hybrid quality compressors for fridges.
It would be the most advanced compressor manufacturing plant among the Asian countries, they claimed.
About four million pieces of fridge’s compressors will be manufactured in this unit, of which nearly 2.5 million pieces would be exported after meeting the local demands, they added.
Aiming to transfer the technology of fridge’s compressors from Europe to Bangladesh, Walton in the first phase sent more than 50 engineers Europe about four months ago. In the second phase, more 50 engineers of the company went to Germany and Austria to gather practical knowledge on machinery and technologies. Besides these two countries, more skilled and experienced engineers will be sent to Spain and Italy for higher trainings.
Ashraful Ambia, executive director (sourcing engineering dept.) of Walton, said Walton has relied on the engineers of Bangladesh, as they are very meritorious. For the compressor project, about 100 engineers were sent to Germany for higher trainings after scrutinizing the meritorious, skilled and experienced engineers.
They are taking higher trainings on compressor design, development, production process, quality improvement and after sales service, he said.
