The Walton-BSJC Media Cup Football Tournament began at the Shaheed (Captain) M Mansur Ali National Handball Stadium on Saturday.
Presidium Member of Bangladesh Awami League Lieutenant Colonel (Retd) Muhammad Faruk Khan, MP, inaugurated the meet by releasing the balloons as the chief guest, while MA Awal, MP, FM Iqbal Bin Anwar Dawn, Senior Operative Director (Head of Games & Sports) of Walton Group, Wahiduzzzaman, Managing Director, Baily Group of Industries were with him as special guests.
President of Bangladesh Sports Journalists Community (BSJC) Asif Iqbal and General Secretary of BSJC Sakir Ruben, Convener of the Tournament Committee Kamal Hossain Bablu, Member Secretary of the Tournament Committee Jashim Uddin Rana were present at the time, among others.
In the day’s matches, Amader Shomoy made a goalless draw with Somoy TV, Dhaka Times beat Banikbarta by a solitary goal, Manabzamin edged past BTV by 2-1 goals, ATN Bangla settled for a goalless draw with Kalerkantho, SA TV eased past Bangla Vision by 3-0 goals.
