The Walton-BSJC Media Cricket Tournament begins tomorrow (Tuesday) at the Moulana Bhashani National Hockey Stadium.
Bangladesh Sports Journalists Community (BSJC) will arrange the six-a-side cricket tournament for the journalists under auspices of Walton Group.
State Minister for Youth and Sports Biren Sikder will inaugurate the meet tomorrow at 10.00 am as the chief guest.
Regarding the ensuing cricket competition, a press conference was held at the Dutch-Bangla Bank Auditorium of Bangladesh Olympic Association Bhaban on Sunday.
General Secretary of BSJC Shafiqul Islam Shamim and Member Secretary of the Tournament Committee Shakir Ruben disclosed all the matters related to the cricket competition. President of BSJC Asif Iqbal, Chairman of the Tournament Committee Monwar Haque, Executive Director of Walton Group SM Zahid Hasan, Operative Director of Walton Uday Hakim, Senior Deputy Director of Walton Mohammad Feroze Alam, Co-Chairman of the Tournament Committee Main Uddin Tareq and Co-Chairman of the Tournament Committee Kamal Hossain Bablu were present at the conference.
A total of 24 teams splitting into eight groups will participate in the cricket meet.
Channel i, Janakantha, Daily Sports 24.com are in Group A, Channel 9, The Independent, BD News are in Group B, Maasranga Television, The New Nation, The New Age are in Group C, Samay TV, The Report 24.com, Kaler Kantha are in Group D, Independent TV, Bangla Mail 24.com, Bangladesh Protidin are in Group E, G TV, Dhaka Tribune, The Daily Star in Group F, Channel 24, Sakaler Khabar, Manab Kantha are in Group G, Jamuna TV, Natun Samay.com, Naya Diganta are in Group H.
The champions team will be awarded TK thirty thousand as prize-money while the runners-up will be given Tk twenty thousand.
