Vulnerable people to become part of social security programme in phases

Environment, Forests and Climate Change Minister Mohammad Shahab Uddin said that the government is working to gradually include all the impoverished, helpless and deserving people in the social security programme.
“The present democratic government has been gradually increasing the amount and coverage of old age, widow and husband oppressed women allowance and disability allowance,’ a release issued here quoting Shahab saying that.
He said this recently while addressing as the chief guest of the virtual inauguration programme hi of allowance book distribution for the elderly, widows and husband abuse allowance and indigent disabled beneficiaries.
The programme was arranged by the Juri Upazila administration of Moulvibazar Sagarnal Union Parishad under the social security programme.
Calling on the concerned public representatives and government officials to ensure that eligable persons are not left out while preparing the list of beneficiaries, the Environment Minister said the real poor and helpless people should be included in the list on priority basis.
“No irregularities will be accepted in this regard,” the minister added.
A total of 101 people were given old age allowance, 62 people were given widow and husband abuse allowance and 90 people were given books to pay allowance to the indigent disabled, during the ceremony, added the release.
Baralekha Upazila Nirbahi Officer Al Imran Ruhul Islam presided over the book distribution ceremony of the social security programme.
Juri Upazila Parishad Chairman MA Moeed Farooq, Upazila Social Service Officer Rakesh Paul and Sagarnal UP Chairman Emdadul Islam Chowdhury were also present, among others.
