Science, Commerce examinees shine in HSC results

Science and business studies (commerce) examinees outshone humanities in the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examinations in terms of pass rate this year in all general educational boards except Rajshahi. A survey report of the Educational Ministry unveiled it on Wednesday.
The results showed that the science group examinees achieved a record
82.93pc, business studies group 81.2pc and humanities group 69.75pc in pass rate this year.
A total of 1,55,755 students sat for the examination in science group and 1,29,167 of them came out successful, while 2,41,753 out of 2,97,586 came out successful in the business studies group. But a total of 3,21,770 students out of 4,61,262 passed in the humanities group, which is lower comparing with the others. The report said that the pass rate of humanities group is 77.77pc in Dhaka Education Board while it is 90.72pc and 89.55pc in science and business studies groups respectively.
Later, the pass rate of humanities group is 61.35 in Comilla Education Board while the passing rates are 84.75 and 73.13 in science and business studies groups respectively.
Consequently, the pass rate of humanities group is 53.02 in Jessore Education Board while the passing rates are 80.69 and 70.48 in science and business studies group respectively.
On the other hand, the pass rate of humanities group is 62.11 in Chittagong Education Board while it is 79.02 and 75.02 in science and business studies groups.
The pass rate of humanities group is 64.28 in Barisal Education Board while it is 82.17 and 79.63 in science and business studies groups respectively.
Consequently, the pass rate of humanities group is 75.48 in Sylhet Education Board and it is 88.04 and 85.84 in science and business studies groups respectively.
The pass rate of humanities group is 71.77 in Dinajpur Education Board while it is 74.57 and 81.69 in science and business studies groups respectively.
According to the report, the pass rate of humanities group is 85.37 in Rajshahi Education Board it is 72.59 and 78.12 in science and business studies groups respectively.
Fahima Khatun, Chairman of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board says that the government is cordial to improve the quality of the education in the country. Specially, we are trying to ensure the facilities among the students equally.
