Election Commission Secretary Helaluddin Ahmad on Thursday said, the election to Gaibandha-3 Constituency has been postponed as per the country’s electoral law following the death of a candidate.
“A new date will be announced soon,” said the EC Secretary while talking to reporters at Nirbachan Bhaban in the city after officially installing Village Police on election duty.
He said, “As per the law, voting in Gaibandha-3 is postponed.
Dr TIM Fazle Rabbi, a BNP-led 20-party alliance candidate for Gaibandha-3 Constituency, died due to old age complications in a city hospital early Thursday.
