Rangunia, Mirsarai and Bariyahat poura elections are going on in a festive atmosphere. Members of the police, RAB and BGB are engaged in maintaining law and order. Voting started at 8 am yesterday and will continue until 4pm. Voting is being done through electronic voting machine (EVM) in these election .
There are two candidates for the post of mayor of Rangunia municipality. Awami League candidate. Shahjahan Sikder and BNP candidate Helal Uddin Shah. There are 35 councilor candidates in the general ward. 6 candidates for the post of reserved women councilor. The total number of voters in this poourasava is 25,791. Of these, 13,519 are male voters and 12,262 are female voters. Voting is taking place in 70 booths of 11 polling stations.
Returning Officer Masudur Rahman said 10 magistrates were on duty. Voting is going smoothly. Meanwhile, BNP mayoral candidate Nur Mohammad’s candidature in Mirsarai municipality was canceled and Awami League candidate Gias Uddin won unopposed. In this municipality 39 candidates are contesting for the post of councilor in 9 wards. The number of voters here is 9,444. Voting is going on in 36 booths.
Returning Officer. Farooq Hossain said there was an executive magistrate in each center and a judicial magistrate in three centers. Awami League mayor candidate Rezaul Karim Khokon and BNP mayor candidate Didarul Alam is in Bariahat pourasava .
