The voters of Barisal-5 constituency not interested in voting for one-sided by-election scheduled to be held on June 15.
Although only two-day left for election , Jebunnessa Afroj, widow of late city AL president and lawmaker Shawkat Hossain Hiron, as AL nominated candidate with ‘Boat’ symbol active in the field by area to area campaign for asking vote to fulfill the incomplete works and unrealized dreams of her husband to develop the region.
Her lone rival BNF nominated candidate Saiful Islam Liton with ‘Television’ symbol, not only invisible in election campaign, but most of the time remained out of contact from the voters even journalists.
On other hand, BNP led 19-party alliance started propagation distributing leaflets to the voters for boycotting the election without going to the vote center.
Mojibor Rahman Sarwar, central organizing secretary and city president of BNP, said the by-election lost its credibility and attraction as the 19-party alliance led by BNP decided not to participate in that.
