The national Vitamin ‘A’ plus campaign will be observed across the country today to feed vitamin A plus capsules to the children aged between six and 59 months.
Health Minister Zahid Maleque announced the fresh date of the campaign in a press briefing at the secretariat on Thursday.
On January 17, citing “unavoidable reasons,” the government postponed the Vitamin A plus campaign, which was supposed to be held on January 19.
Under the campaign, 25.27 lakh children aged between six and 11 months will be given blue coloured vitamin ‘A’ capsules, while 1.95 crore children aged between 12 and 59 months will be administered red coloured high-power capsules.
About 1.20 lakh centres have been opened across the country with the help of the government and the private organisations, teachers and journalists.
There will be government teams at launchghats, ferryghats, toll plazas, the Bangabandhu Bridge, the Meghna Bridge, airports, railway stations and kheyaghats to feed the vitamin capsules to the children.
The children of the remote areas in 240 unions of 42 upazilas in 12 districts will be fed capsules in the next four days of the campaign conducting a search programme.
