The National Vitamin A Plus Campaign begins Saturday in Chattogram as well as across the country. The programme will run every day from 8 am to 4 pm.
Divisional Director of Health Dr. Hasan Shahriar Kabir formally inaugurated the campaign as chief guest by feeding a capsule to a child. Civil surgeon of Chattogram Dr.Md. Elias Chowdhury presided over the inauguration ceremony at Karnaphuli Upazila Parishad auditorium in the city yesterday . Karnaphui upazila chairman Faruk Chowdhury, UNO Shaheen Sultana and Asstt.commissioner(land) Shirin Akhter were present among others on the occasion.
The four-day program will run until December 14. About 20 million children will be fed vitamin A plus capsules at this time.
Health Minister Zahid Malek will inaugurate the National Vitamin A Plus Campaign in Dhaka this afternoon at the premises of Bangladesh Shishu Hospital.
Deputy Program Manager (DPM) of the National Nutrition Service and the National Vitamin A Plus Campaign Gazi Ahmad Hasan said that on the occasion of the campaign, about 23 lakh children aged six to 11 months across the country will be given one blue vitamin A plus capsule (one lakh IU). In addition, about 16 million children aged 12 to 59 months will be given one red (two lakh IU) vitamin A plus capsule.
