A campaign for Vitamin A- Plus Campaign has begun in the district as around 8 am Saturday amid much enthusiasm to all guardians, health workers and the volunteers.
Deputy Commissioner Narsingdi Abu Hana Morsed Zaman inaugurated the campaign as the chief guest on Community Clinic at Monsafarchair (Itakhala) of the Shibpur upazila, Polish Super Amena Begum, Narsingdi Civil surgeon Dr. Potul Roy, Shibpur upazila health and family planning officer Dr. Rahana Begum, Senior helth officer civil surgeon office, health staff and local elite including the journalists of print and electronic media were also present on the occasion.
Deputy Commissioner Narsingdi Abu Hana Morsed Zaman said children are future of the nation and the government is relentlessly working to build a beautiful Bangladesh for the next generation. Civil surgeon Office sources said a total of 33044 children would be fed blue and red color vitamin A capsule Saturday in all the Six upazilas of the district to reduce the risk of child mortality.Of them, some 314912 babies aged 6-11 months will be fed blue color vitamin A capsule while 7826 babies aged 12-59 months will be administered red color vitamin a capsule on the day, the sources added.Talking to Correspondent, civil surgeon Dr. Potul Roy said as many as 2790 health and family planning personnel including 72187 volunteers and 194 supervisors were engaged in 1908 centers throughout the district to make the campaign successful. Besides, mobile centres has also been set up at bus stands, railway stations, kheyaghats and bridge tolls which will remain open from 8 am to 4 pm to feed the children Vitamin A Plus capsules, he added.

Deputy Commissioner GSM Zafarullah and Civil Surgeon Dr. Md. Muklesur Rahman Khan were innugrated the campaign as chief and special guest on Sadar General Hospital.

A total of 8,56,300 children in 2926 spot centers of 13 upazilas, under the district to reduce the risk of child mortality, said Civil Surgeon Dr. Muklesur Rahman Khan.
Deputy Civil Surgeon Dr. Habibur Rahman said as many as 21846 health and family planning personnel and volunteers were engaged in 2926 centers to make the campaign successful.
Dupchanchia (Bogra) Correspondent adds: A total of 4 lakhs 60 thousand babies ranging from the ages 6 months to 11 months 530500 children blue and 1 year to 59 months have been fed Vitamin ‘A’ capsules in Bogra district on Saturday on the occasion of National Vitamin A plus Campaign in order to eradicate the blindness and child mortality from the country due to want of vitamin A.
Concern authority source said, to eradicate the blind course from the country Bogra civil surgeon office has arrange like other part of the country the number of children ranging from 6 months to 11 months is 53 thousand 5 hundred . They will be given blue colored A + capsules on the other hand, the number of children ranging the age from 1 year to 59 months is 4 lakh 7 thousand. They will be given red coloured A + capsules.
To make the government programme a grand success civil surgeon office arranged a view exchange meeting participating local journalists of both print and electronic Medias called orientation meeting in the office premises presided over civil surgeon Ardhendu Deb. The Civil Surgeon disclosed, the children have been given Vitamin A capsules from as many as 2 thousand 9 hundred 64 centers where huge number of volunteers was ready to feed the children Vitamin A capsules from the morning to 4 pm.
He urged through orientation meeting all concerned to make the National Vitamin A + capsules Campaign success so that we can ensure the motto of Bangladesh government.
