4th day of Boi Mela: Visitors, publishers happy over management

Book-lovers from different parts of the city visited the month-long Amar Ekushey Boi Mela on Thursday and expressed their satisfaction at the management system of the fair venue this year.
Syed Masud, a service holder of Bangladesh Television, said that enlarging the fair area was a wise decision of Bangla Academy, and visitors can wander around the fair premises without any disturbance. “Everyone can move easily from stall to stall in search of their favourite books”, he said.
Considering the huge crowd of the fair this year, the Academy has expanded the fairground almost four times comparing with the last year. Expressing his satisfaction, Shihab Bahadur, publisher of Muktachinta, said “This year the fair ground is large enough both for the book lovers and the publishers as well”.
“It helps the publishers get enough space to set up their stalls which also enriched the beauty of the fair this year,” he said.
93 new books arrived yesterday. The new books include 17 Story, 20 Novel, 13 Article, 13 Poetry, 3 Rhyme, 2 Child Literature, 1 Liberation War, 2 Science, 2 Excursion, 2 Religious, 1 Science Fiction and 11 Miscellaneous.
“Hazar Basorer Istambul” of Zikrul Reza Khanam and “Gano Porishad Thekey Nabom Jatiya Sangbad” of Colonel Sawkat Ali published by Agami Prokashoni, “Nilir Valobasha” of Mostak Ahmed published by Anna Prokash, “Kabita Samogra” of Shihab Sarkar published by Nabojug, “Chea Dhaka Mayer Nagori” of Al-Mahmud published by Jhinephula was among other new books.
A discussion titled “Bangla Academir Hirokjoyanti: Gobeshona Karjocrom, Oteit Thekey Bartaman” was held at 4:00 pm on Thursday in the main prodium of the accademy. Dr. Moniruzzaman presided over the function, while Professor Abul Ahsan presented the keynote. Professor Monsur Musa, Bhuiyan Iqbal and Aminur Rahman Sultan participated as the discussants. Today the fair will open at 11:00 am.
For celebrating Amar Ekushey, a contest of “Sishu Kishore Chitrangan Protijogita” will be held at 8:30 am on the main podium of Academy.
A discussion titled “Bangla Academir Hirokjoyanti: Ovidhan O Baykaron Karmoshuchi, Otiet Thekey Bartaman” will be held on today (Friday) at 4:00 pm in the main podium of the academy. Professor Ahmed Kabir will preside over the function while Professor Sharochis Sarkar will present the keynote. Professor Jinat Imteaz Ali, Professor Hakim Ali and Professor Mohammad Azam will participate the discussion.
