Viqarunnisa Noon School & College emerged the champions of the Girls’ Group of the Polar Icecream 23rd School Handball Tournament when defeated Sunnydale by 14-1 goals in the final at the Shaheed (Captain) M Mansur Ali National Handball Stadium on Sunday.
The winners led the first half 10-1.
Fatema Akhter of Viqarunnisa Noon School & College was adjudged the best player of the tournament.
Meanwhile, Scholastica finished third when they beat Dhanmondi Tutorial by four goals to nil in a place-deciding match at the same venue.
The victorious team had a 2-0 lead in the first session. After the final match, CEO of Dhaka Icecream Industries Shah Masud Imam distributed the prizes among the winners as the chief guest.
General Secretary of Bangladesh Handball Federation (BHF) Asaduzzaman Kohinoor, Chairman of the Tournament Committee (Boys’ Group), Chairperson of the Tournament Committee (Girls’ Group) Hamida Begum, Secretary of the Tournament Committee (Boys’ Group) Md Selim Mia Babu, Secretary of the Tournament Committee (Girls’ Group) Parvin Nasima Nahar Putul were present at the time.
