The vigilance drives against use of gas illegally by using unauthorized risers and equipment was conducted in the port city recently.
At the same time, illegal gas connections and for outstanding gas bills , total of 767 connections including industrial, commercial and residential installations have been disconnected .
Out of the disconnected connections include 757 residential (158 risers), 2 commercial and 8 industrial units. The vigilance team of Karnaphuli Gas Distribution Company Ltd conducted drives in College road, Chowkbazar area in the city.
Legal actions against the illegal use of gas and arrear gas bills, under process on Gas Act-2010 . During the disconnections, Engr Abul Kalam Azad, Manager(Vigilance) Engr.Md. Alamgir Hossain and Engr. Palash Sarkar including senior officials of KGDCL were present.
