Vietnam has invested 19.78 billion U. S. dollars in 930 projects overseas as of Dec. 31, 2014, according to the Foreign Investment Agency under the Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI) yesterday.
Specifically, Vietnam’s registered and additional capital abroad reached 14.85 billion U.S. dollars and 4.93 billion U.S. dollars, respectively.
In 2014 alone, the ministry licensed 109 Vietnamese-invested projects in 28 countries and regions with a total registered capital of 1.047 billion U.S. dollars and adjusted to add 739 million U.S. dollars for 22 operating projects.
In 2014, an amount of one billion U.S. dollars of Vietnamese investment abroad was disbursed, bringing the cumulative figure to six billion U.S. dollars, accounting for 30.6 percent of the total overseas registered capital.
The oil and gas industry holds the largest overseas capital with 2.9 billion U.S. dollars, followed by agriculture-forestry with 660 million U.S. dollars, hydro-electricity with 500 million U.S. dollars, telecommunications with 450.6 million U.S. dollars and finance, banking and insurance with 230 million U.S. dollars.
