Comilla Victorians beat Dhaka Dynamites by 12 runs in their prestigious clash of the AKS Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Twenty20 Cricket at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong on Wednesday.
Sent into bat first, Comilla Victorians piled up a fighting total of 167 for the loss six wickets in the allotted 20 overs and they restricted
Dhaka Dynamites to 155 for the loss of eight wickets in 20 overs.
Comilla Victorians made a solid start with the two openers Tamim Iqbal and Liton Das contributed 60 runs before Tamim Iqbal was caught by Mosaddek Hossain off Shakib Al Hasan.
Tamim notched up a superb 37. His 23-ball innings was laced with five fours.
After Tamim’s dismissal, Liton Das and Imrul Kayes put on together 29 runs for the second wicket partnership before Liton was stumped out by Jahurul Islam off Shakib Al Hasan when Comilla’s total was 89 for the loss of two wickets.
Liton hit an excellent 34. His 30-ball knock saw three boundaries.
Imrul Kayes made 26 from 24 balls featuring two fours and a sixer. Kayes was caught at the long-on by Kieron Pollard off Kevon Cooper when Comilla’s score was 114 for the loss of three wickets.
Marlon Samuels top-scored with 39. His 27-ball innings was belted with five fours and two sixes. Samuels was caught at the long-off by Joe Denly off Kevon Cooper when Comilla’s total was 144 for the loss of four wickets.
Cooper claimed three wickets at the cost of 42 runs, while Shakib Al Hasan bagged a pair of wickets for 23 runs.
Later, opener Joe Denly, Kieron Pollard, Mosaddek Hossain and Jahurul Islam of Dhaka Dynamites fought back against the tight and controlled bowling attack of Comilla.
Denly notched up a terrific 49. His 39-ball innings was ornamented with six fours and two sixes, while Pollard hit a worthy 27 from 21 balls featuring two fours and a sixer.
Mosaddek Hossain and Jahurul Islam added 17 runs each to the Dhaka’s total. Dwayne Bravo grabbed three wickets at the cost of 31 runs, while Mohammad Saifuddin claimed two wickets instead of 18 runs.
Shoaib Malik took one wicket for 26 runs.
Bravo was adjudged the Man of the Match.
