Two relatives of martyrs on Sunday testified against Syed Md Qaiser at the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-2, accusing the former state-minister for agriculture for ordering the killing of their loved ones. Ambia Khatun, 63, daughter of martyr Abdus Shahid and Anwara Begum, 70, widow of martyr Askar Ali submitted heir depositions against Qaiser as 23rd and 24th prosecution witnesses (PWs) respectively.
The ladies, both from village Madhyam Norpoti under Chunarughat police station in Habiganj almost corroborated each other’s depositions as the concerned incident was one and the same.
In their depositions, both of them descried how their dear ones were apprehended by the men of Qaiser, who had allegedly raised an auxiliary force to Pakistani occupation army during the War of Liberation, and were gunned down following his order. They said Qaiser orchestrated the abduction, torture and subsequently killing of their loved ones as both the victims had refrained from joining Razakar Bahini and went to India. The ICT-2 on February 2, 2014, framed 16 charges of crimes against humanity against Qaiser.
Meanwhile at the ICT-1, investigation officer (IO) SM Idris Ali in the trial of Jamaat leader ATM Azharul Islam, today submitted his deposition as the PW-19. After conclusion of his deposition, the tribunal adjourned the hearing till June 22. The IO also exhibited some documents that he seized and produced before the tribunal as evidence. In those exhibits, there were admit card of Azhar for SSC and HSC examinations, tabulation sheets, and many other documents.
In his deposition, the IO said he has seen in his investigation that the incumbent assistant secretary general of Jamaat had committed crimes against humanity during the war and found enough evidence against him.
