Members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) in a drive arrested five alleged kidnappers and rescued a victim from the city’s Niketan area on Tuesday morning.
They also recovered two foreign pistols, two magazines and five bullets from the spot, said Rab sources.
The arrestees are Md Abdur Rahman Masum alias Mollah Masum, 36, Selim Mollah, 33, Yusuf Sharif alias Chasma Sharif, 26, Md Rezaul Karim alias Shahin, 42, and Md Akash alias Raju, 27.

battalion headquarters said local criminals- Chasma Sharif, Ponir and Mollah Masum-kidnapped vegetables trader Alamgir when he went to Mim Car Centre of Mohakhali on Sunday afternoon to get his motorcycle repair. They confined Alamgir to an under-construction building at Niketan and demanded Tk 5 lakh as ransom from his family members over mobile phone.
