Veteran Awami League (AL) leader and member of the Advisory Council of the Bangladesh Awami League M Ishaq Mia died at the age of 88.
Ishaq Mia, one of the main organisers of the Liberation War and close associate to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, breathed his last on Monday morning while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Chittagong.
He left behind his wife, four sons, one daughter and large of political comrades, host of relatives and admirers to mourn his death.
People of all strata, including former city mayor ABM Mohiuddin Chowdhury, Mayor of Chittagong City Corporation AJM Nasiruddin and a large number of political leaders and activists thronged the hospital to have the last glimpse at the veteran politician.
Ishaq was the member of the National Assembly in 1970 as well as member of the fourth Jatiya Sangsad. The body will be kept at his Agrabad residence so people can pay tributes to the late politician.
Namaz-e-Janaza of the leader will be held at Jamiatul Falah Complex today at 10 am.
