Staff Reporter :
Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh has carried out deadly violence across the country including Dhaka and Brahmanbaria in the last few days in the name of anti-Modi protest procession.
Multiple cases were also filed in these incidents. Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Detective Branch (DB) police have already investigated several cases.
DMP’s DB surfaced the vested quarter interests that carried out violence during the protests and tried to achieve their goals.
CCTV camera footages, video footages, and pictures of various television channels show the involvement of vested interests and other terrorist groups with Hefazat-e-Islam.
DMP DB’s Joint Commissioner (JC) Mahbub Alam told the reporter on Monday that the violence that took place across the country including Dhaka and Brahmanbaria, did not belong to any particular party.
We suspect that another terrorist group joined the violence by keeping a gun on the Hefazat-e-Islam shoulder, he added.
In this case, many people have tried to destroy the harmony of the country by using digital platforms. They are working to identify them. They will also be brought under the law.
They were analysing footages of closed-circuit cameras at different spots and news channels to identify the people who carried out violence. No one will be exempted if they are found guilty, he further said.
Earlier, Hefazat staged a protest procession at Baitul Mukarram on the occasion of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Bangladesh to mark the golden jubilee of independence and the birth centenary of Bangabandhu on March 26.
Hefazat protesters clashed with the police and Awami League (AL) leader and activists there. When the news spread, Hefazat supporters and Madrasa students staged protest rallies in Chittagong’s Hathazari and Brahmanbaria.
Hefazat then staged nationwide protests on Saturday. Later they observed day to dusk hartal across the country on Sunday.
During the strike, there were chases, vandalism, road blockades and arson in several districts including the capital Dhaka, Narayanganj, Munshiganj and Brahmanbaria.
Many people including journalists and police were injured while 14 people died with the incidents.
