Vegetables’ prices fall in Chakaria

The price of vegetables has decreased in Cox’s Bazar district and the market is overflowing with winter vegetables.
After the evening, shopkeepers sit on roads and vans, with tomato, potatoes, cabbage , onions and bean baskets.
The peasants are frustrated due to the abnormally low prices of the product but the buyers are very happy. The prices of winter vegetable prices have fallen in different markets of Cox’s Bazar including Chakaria within a few days.
Farmers cannot afford the cost of their produce, especially tomato and cauliflower . As farmers have been facing such crisis due to lower prices, the buyers and sellers are in troubles .
Yesterday, the biggest gardens of Chakaria, Kalghar and Ramu, were found in the largest market, the prices of all kinds of potato, brinjal, copper, bean and egetables were reduced.
Farmers cannot afford to spend their produce. They said they would sit on their way down the price further. Cholariya wholesale vegetable businessman Abdulullah Mia said that the prices of all types of vegetables have come down in the last 10 days.
Farmer Abul Fazal of Kharulia area said that he sold cow and used to cultivate potato in one and a half bighas of land. But due to the fall in prices over the last few days, he is facing losses. So he is no longer able to buy cows. Farmer Abdur Razzak of Kaimakhop Union of Ramu, said that he now planted tomato and potato in one bigha land and planted tomatoes and potatoes in one and a half bighas. But now the market rate is low because he counted losses.
Vegetables, which came to sell potatoes, brinjal, SIM in Chakaria market, said that the prices of vegetables were high in the past few days. Then they were benefitted by selling vegetables. They have been losing weight since the last 10-12 days due to low prices. But the cost of production of some vegetables is rising. If prices fall further, they will be lost.
