Vegetables’ price still high in Bagerhat

Winter vegetables appeared in the local markets of Bagerhat district town and its adjacent areas in sufficient quantities.
The prices of the new vegetables are still high. The reason behind the high prices of vegetables could not be known.
When contacted some retail sellers of vegetable of the local markets told this correspondent, we are to purchase vegetables at high prices from the whole dealers and sell the same after earning a little profit.
Each kg cauliflower is now selling here at Tk.40.00, onion flower. locally known as Kali is selling at Tk.100.00 or more, cabbage is selling at Tk.35.00, bean at Tk.40.00, Gajar at Tk.40.00, brinzal or egg plant at Tk.40.00, green tomato at Tk.50, pumpkin (Lau) at Tk.25,00 to Tk.50.00 per piece, according to different sizes. Lady’s finger is being sold here at Tk.40, Karalla at Tk.40.00, arum at Tk.40.00, Barbati at Tk.40.00 or more, green chili at Tk, 72.00. kohlrabi at Tk.35.00 per kg and Lal Shak at Tk.10.00 each small bundle.
On the other hand, price of potato, a popular vegetable has shot up Tk.8.00 per kg. It is now being sold here at Tk.35.00 per kg as against of Tk.22.00 in the last week. Price of onion, a must item for Bengali kitchen is still high in the local markets.
It is now selling here at Tk.50.00 to Tk.55.00 per kg according different qualities.
