Vegetables price remains soar despite plenty of supply

Prices of vegetables remained higher despite stalk of winter vegetables in the city markets, but the price of fish remained almost unchanged at the weakend.
Of the vegetables, bean was selling at Tk 80 per kg, brinjal at Tk 40 to Tk 50, tomato at Tk120, bitter gourd was selling at Tk 40 to Tk 45, cucumber Tk 25 to 35, okra Tk 40 to 45, papaya Tk 20, carrot Tk 70, french Tk 50, radish Tk 25, parbal Tk30 to 35 per kg, teasel gourd Tk 40 to 45, snake gourd at Tk 40 to 45, pumpkin (medium size) Tk 50 to 60 per piece, Cauliflower Tk 15 to 25, cabbage Tk 30 to 40, bottle gourd Tk 50 to 60, ash gourd Tk 35 to 40, coriander leaves Tk 250 per kg, green chilli Tk 70 to 90, capsicum (red) Tk 550 kg and capsicum (green) Tk 300 to 450 per kg.
Of fishes, scorpion and barbal were selling at Tk 600 to Tk800, lobster and prawn Tk700 to Tk 1000, ruhi Tk 280 to 450, carp Tk 230 to Tk 400, pangas Tk 170 to 200, tilapia Tk 180 to Tk 230, mola Tk 250, climbing fish (Koi fish) Tk 250 to 600, lata Tk 200 to Tk 300, Tatkini Tk 230 to Tk 250, Sheat fish (Boal fish)
A village police allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from a tree at Khagrakhuri village in sadar upazila on Thursday.
The deceased was identified as Delwar Hossain Delu,56, son of late Nifazuddin. Sadar thana SI Ripon Bala said family members found his hanging body in the morning and informed police. Later , police recovered the body and sent it to sadar hospital morgue for autopsy.
Delu had been suffering from various health problems and he had an operation for his vision problem two months back, he said quoting family members.
As his physical condition did not improve he might have committed suicide out of frustration, he added.
