Vaccine takers cross 9 lakh

Bangladesh entered into the eighth day of its vaccination drive, with a total number of 9,06,033 vaccine recipients against a target of 35 lakh inoculation in the first month.
On Sunday, 1,69,353 people received their first doses of Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine across the country.
Of the recipients, 1,12,848 were male and 56,505 female, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Meanwhile, 32 people developed minor side effects after getting their shots.
According to the DGHS, more than 17,46,000 people have registered for the vaccination till 6.05pm on Sunday.
BSS adds: Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Maleque on Sunday urged all people to receive Covid-19 vaccines to protect themselves from the deadly virus.
“I am urging all levels of people to take vaccines, as vaccine is the only remedy to eradicate Covid-19 pandemic from the country,” he made the call after visiting a 300-capacity Covid-19 dedicated hospital at Khanpur in Narayanganj city.
“A section of people are spreading rumour over Covid-19 vaccine… but people received Covid-19 vaccines spontaneously ignoring the rumors,” the health minister said, adding all sorts of rumors have been proved false as the people are thronging the designated hospitals to take vaccines.
