The United States has not confirmed yet about the citizenship of Shehzad Rouf Arka killed in a recent drive in militants den in city though the Washington Post reported he was a US citizen.
“I have seen reports that a U.S. citizen was killed in a police raid in Dhaka. We understand that there’s an ongoing law enforcement investigation on the matter, and so I’d refer you to local
authorities for more detail on that,” said John Kirby, Spokesperson of the US Department of State in a regular briefing on Thursday.
When pressed further for confirmation, the Spokesperson said he can only confirm that they have seen reports that a US citizen was killed in a police raid in Dhaka.
“We’re going to decline further comment,” Kirby said asking the questioner to talk with local authorities for more details on that.
Nine alleged militants were killed on Tuesday morning during a special drive of law enforcement agencies in Dhaka’s Kalyanpur area.
