The US Deputy Assistant Secretary for South Asia Atul Keshap arrived in Dhaka on Saturday on a four-day visit. The US embassy said he would meet national leaders to discuss US-Bangladesh relations other regional issues during his stay until Feb 25. Keshap will also meet with civil society leaders and private sector representatives to discuss a wide range of issues, including labour, development, governance, and trade. Keshap is a career US Foreign Service Officer from Virginia. As Deputy Assistant Secretary, he works closely with Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asia Nisha Desai Biswal. He was the US Senior Official for Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) prior to his new assignment. Keshap worked with Assistant Secretary of State Robert Blake between 2010 and 2012 as Director of the Office of India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Maldives, and Bhutan Affairs. – bdnews24.com
