US Assistant Secretary of State for Population, Refugees and Migration Anne C Richard will visit Bangladesh on January 20-23. In Bangladesh, Assistant Secretary Richard will meet with government officials and representatives of international and non-governmental organisations in Dhaka, according to US Department of State.
She will also travel to Cox’s Bazar to meet with the district and local administration officials, undocumented and registered Rohingya refugees and officials of the organisations providing humanitarian assistance in the area.
Richard will also visit Myanmar before coming to Bangladesh.
In Myanmar, she will visit Rakhine State from January 16 to 19 to meet with state and local government officials, representatives of the Rohingya and Rakhine communities and international and non-governmental organisations to discuss the political and humanitarian situation in Rakhine State, following her participation in the second US-Burma Human Rights Dialogue in Naypyitaw on January 14-15.
