Rejuvenated Bangladesh take on Laos in the second leg of FIFA World Cup 2022 and AFC Asian Cup 2023 joint pre-qualifiers round-1 scheduled to be held today (Tuesday) with both teams optimistic on winning the match.
The match kicks off at 7 pm at the Bangabandhu National Stadium.
Bangladesh already are in comfortable position to stay on World Cup selection race after winning their away match against Laos by a solitary goal margin. Jamal and Co. are upbeat to maintain their winning spree in the second match hoping to take full home ground advantage.
On the other hand, calculation must be difficult for Laos to fight back in the second match after losing the first leg. But they know that they have to win the second match against Bangladesh to stay in the race.
Addressing at a pre match press conference held on Monday at conference room of Bangladesh Football Federation Bhaban, Bangladesh national football team head coach Jamie Day and team’s captain Jamal Bhuiyan categorically said they would take to the field today in a positive frame of mind hoping to win the match against Laos.
Laos coach Shundorom Murtia also found to be hopeful for his team as he said still there is ninety minute to go and hoped his side would able to change the result of the match.
He said they missed series of scoring chances during the first leg but this time they are upbeat not to repeat those mistakes in the second leg.
Bangladesh will have to play better football than their first leg in Dhaka because they had to toil in the first half though they able to secure full point playing good football in the second half.
Though it was past for both the team as AFC will hand over the ticket of the second round of FIFA World Cup 2022 pre-qualifiers to the winners of the today’s second leg.
The two teams met four occasions with Bangladesh winning two and Laos won one match. The other one match between the two sides ended in a draw.
