Upazila election in 5 phases in next March

The upazila election in 14 upazilas of Chattogram district is going to be held in March next through five phases .
Out of 15 upazilas of the district, election in newly constituted Karnaphuli upazila was held recently. In these 14 upazilas, a total of 36 lakh 22thousand 863 voters will exercise their franchise . In the meantime, district Election commission office already formulated the list of polling centres and polling booths in these upazila.
The preparation of voter list and list of presiding officers already finalised, EC sources said. According to preliminary voter list, there are 18,75,081 male and 17,47,782 female voters in these 14 upazilas.
 District EC office finalised 1,295 polling centres with 9,518 booths . About 31,341 offices will be deployed in these polling centres including 11,352 President and Asstt. Presiding officer and 19,987 polling officers. Mentionable that in last upazila election , it was held in five phases and the same procedures will be followed in this election also, EC sources said. The election phobia is prevailing among the political leaders and workers in the upazilas .
Different upazila sources said BNP not so encourage with the coming upazila election following their unbelievable defeat in recently held parliamentary election . The election campaign for the respective candidates for upazila Chairman and vice chairmen are witnessing in the social media rather print or electronic media.
The election is supposed to be held in Sitakunda, Mirsarai, Fatikchari, Sandwip, Hathazari, Raozan, Rangunia, Boalkhali, Patiya, Anowara, Chandanaish, Satkania, Lohagara and Banskhali except newly constituted Karnaphuli upazila.
