An UP member was killed when his motorcycle collided with a tree at Manirampur Uapzial of Jashore yesterday morning.
His son Abdur Rahman (28) was seriously injured in the accident.
The accident took place in front of Shyamkur Secondary School in Manirampur Upazila. The deceased was identified as Shariful Islam 62 son of Aminul Islam is the president of Awami League in the ward no. 5 of Shyamkur UP.
Police and local Shyamkur UP chairman Moniruzzaman Moni confirmed the incident.
Rafiqul Islam, officer in charge Monirampur Police station said that Shariful Islam and his son Abdur Rahman was going to Chinatola Bazaar on his motorbike around 8.20 am. When they reached in front of Shyamkur Secondary School, the motorcycle lost control and collided with a tree side of the road. Both father and son were seriously injured. Shariful Islam died on the way to Manirampur Hospital after rescuing them.
Injured Abdur Rahman has been admitted to Khulna Medical College Hospital OC added.
