Unmukt Chand of Sheikh Jamal’s emphatic win in super league

Opener Unmukt Chand scored a magnificent 127-run to steer Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club to earn an overwhelming seven-wickets victory over Legends of Rupganj in the super league of Dhaka Premier Division Cricket on Saturday.
The right handed Indian recruit Chand hit 20 boundaries from 133-ball as Sheikh Jamal chase down the target making 262 for the loss of three wickets with 12 balls to spare at BKSP ground in Savar.
Chand also shared two important partnerships – the first 150-run with Rakin Ahmed (52) for the second wickets stand and another 60-run with Tanbir Haider (66 n.o) for the third wickets stand, on way to his match-winning century.
National discard Syed Rasel captured Sheikh Jamal’s two wickets conceding 53 runs.
Earlier, batting first after winning the toss, Rupganj posted a competitive total of 260 for 9 from their allotted 50 overs with skipper Naeem Islam top scoring 51.
Numbers of Rupganj’s top order batsmen – Tushar Imran ( 48 n.o), Pavez Rasool (44), Mohammad Niam (43) and Mushfiqur Rahim (39) – got off to a good start but the tail enders failed to click in the end.
Robiul Haque was the pick of Sheikh Jamal’s bowlers as he grabbed five wickets conceding 33 runs. He was well supported by Tanbir Haider who took two wickets for 48.
Unmukt Chand of Sheikh Jamal was named the player of the match for his brilliant batting display.
