United efforts to root out militancy stressed

Chief Whip of Jatiya Sangsad ASM Feroz on Friday urged all to come forward to root out the militancy from the society.
“There is no room for militant outfits in the holy soil of Bangladesh . . . All must work together to root out these bad elements from the society,” he said while speaking at a meeting of Bauphal Upazila Parishad auditorium.
Referring to the ongoing drive against the militancy, Feroz said all individuals should play conducive role within his or her capacity in this regard.
“All patriotic people, specially who belong to the spirit of the War of Liberation, should inspire the mass people in the campaign,” the chief whip said urging members of civil society, NGO workers, political party leaders and imams of mosques to contribute from their respective stances against terrorism and militancy.
He also urged authorities concerned of every school, college and madrasa to ensure cent percent presence of the students in the class.
Later, local anti-militancy committees were formed with the involvement of local leaders and elected Union Parishad chairmen in the upazila.
The meeting also discussed about the law and order, terrorism and destructive activities in recent times and their possible tasks in this connection.
Later, an anti-militancy procession also brought out. Led by the chief whip, the procession paraded thoroughfares of the upazila town.
UP chairmen, local leaders of political parties including Awami League, heads of different educational institutions of the upazila, representatives of civil society, representatives of Non-Government Organizations (NGOs) , public servants and local journalists, among others, took part in the programme.
