United Airways resumes flight operations

BSS, Dhaka :United Airways Saturday resumed its all domestic and international flights after two days of suspension of flight operations.”As per the regular flight schedule our first domestic flight took off Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport here to Syedpur at 7.15 am this morning and we have a Dhaka-Jeddah flight at 8 pm this evening,” the airlines’ Deputy General Manager (Marketing and Communications) Kamrul Islam told BSS.The private airlines had declared suspension of all its international and domestic flight operations from Thursday for an indefinite time claiming huge financial crisis just after one day of the resignation of the airline’s Chairman and Managing Director Tasbirul Ahmed Choudhury.The decision of flight resumption came last night after Tasbirul Ahmed has joined again, however this time only as MD.”The management held a meeting with the former chairman Tasbirul Ahmed Choudhury at 8 pm last night. As per the decisions, Tasbirul Ahmed Choudhury was reinstated as the MD,” Kamrul said.United Airways, with 1000 employees, operates international flights from Dhaka to Jeddah, Dubai, Muscat, Singapore, Bangkok, Kathmandu, Kolkata and Chittagong to Kolkata and Muscat.It also has domestic flights from Dhaka to Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar, Sylhet, Jessore, Syedpur, Rajshahi, Rangpur, Barisal and Ishwardi.The United fleet consists of 11 planes, including one Dash 8, three ATR 72s, five MD 83s and two Airbus A310s.
