Union level fish farmer honoured in Rangpur

Abdullah Al Mamun, son of late Rafiqul Islam of Khamar of Fatehpur village in Bara Hazratpur Union, has successfully adopted fish farming technology under the Union Level Fisheries Technology Service Expansion Project in Mithapukur Upazila of Rangpur District.
After passing HSC, he started fish farming on 100 acres of land. Seeing his interest in fish farming, the Senior Upazila Fisheries Officer, Mithapukur, Rangpur arranged for him to undergo 4 days training as RD in 2016-17 under the project and arrange for an exhibition of monosex tilapia.
Under the project, he was given fish farming equipment worth fifty thousand rupees and he invested the extra money for fish farming on his own. He produces 5,000 kg of tilapia and 500 kg of carp from the reservoir with a selling price of Rs 560,000.
Seeing his fish farming techniques, many people in the area became interested and started fish farming and achieved success.
He received the award from the Member of Parliament HN Ashikur Rahman as the best fish farmer of the upazila in the National Fisheries Week 2016. Rangpur District Fisheries Officer Varun Chandra Biswas said Abdullah Al Mamun is a role model for fish farming in Mithapukur Upazila.
Many people have started fish farming after seeing that he has created a stir in fish farming in the upazila.
