Police busted an illegal firearms factory and arrested two people suspected to be arms manufacturers from Notabaria area of Pabna’s Bera upazila on Sunday afternoon.
The arrestees are Md Abdulla Al Monsur Mithu (43), and Abdullah Al Siam, our Pabna correspondent reports quoting Officer-in-charge of Detective Branch of Police Md Abdul Hannan.
The factory was operated by one Mehedi Hassan Shovon in an underground room of his cousin Md Alom’s house. Shovon and his cousin Alom went into
hiding during the drive. Police are investigating the incident.
Acting on a tip off, a team of police led by Additional Superintendent of Police Masud Alom raided the house around 3:00pm on Sunday when the arrestees were manufacturing firearms, the police official said.
During the drive, police also seized two pieces of one shooter gun, a rival bore and a demi rival bore, three firearms and huge cache of arms manufacturing materials from the spot.
