Mirza Md. Tanjim Shorif Mugdho of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) ranked top while ATM Jahid Hasan of University of Dhaka and Towsif Taher of BUET ranked 2nd and 3rd position respectively in the 8th Dhaka South Regional Undergraduate Mathematics Olympiad 2016 held yesterday at Daffodil International University (DIU). Bangladesh Mathematical Society and A F Mujibur Rahman Foundation organized this Olympiad and DIU was the host of the event.
Among the top ten positions Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) clinched seven positions and University of Dhaka achieved the rest 3 positions. More than 300 participants from different public and private universities, colleges and institutions participated in this Undergraduate Mathematics Olympiad.
Prof Dr. Yousuf M Islam, Vice-Chancellor and Prof Dr. S M Mahabub Ul Haque Majumder, Acting Pro-Vice Chancellor of Daffodil International University and Professor Munibur Rahman Chowdhury, Department of Mathematic, BUET & Convener, National Undergraduate Mathematics Olympiad inaugurated the Olympiad early in the morning releasing balloons and pigeons in the open air.
Prof Munibur Rahman Chowdhury, Department of Mathematic, BUET & Convener, National Undergraduate Mathematics Olympiad 2016 was present as the chief guest at the closing and award giving ceremony on the occasion.
