‘Under-privileged women to be connected with mainstream dev’

State Minister for Women and Children Affairs Meher Afroz Chumki said that the present government has taken huge initiatives to connect the under-privileged women with the mainstream of the development, said an official release here on Friday.
“Those under-privileged women are being contributed specially in the economy of the country …Bangladesh would be a prosperous and developed country if these initiatives are to be realized,” she said.
She said this while addressing in the Asia-Europe conference at Lithuanian capital
Vilnius on Thursday.
Chumki said Bangladesh is now not only well-known in the Asia-Europe but also recognized in whole world for economic and political empowerment of women. “It is rare in the world to find out a country like Bangladesh where women are dominating as Prime Minister, Speaker, and the Leader of the Opposition,” she also said.
She, however, told the conference that due to skilled and strict leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the women of the country has established their economic and political empowerment.
Even the women at the grass-route level are electing in the local government system and working relentlessly for building a prosperous Bangladesh, Chumki told the function.
