The United Nations (UN) has once again urged all political parties to hold dialogue while expressing concern over the ongoing political stand-off in Bangladesh.
The UN also urged the Bangladesh authorities to allow for freedom of expression, for freedom of assembly and freedom of the media.
Farhan Haq, deputy spokesperson for the UN secretary-general, made the call in response to a question at the regular press briefing at UN Headquarters in New York on Wednesday.
Replying to a query about the disappearance of BNP leader Salauddin Ahmed, the deputy spokesperson said: “Well, we’ve discussed this a few times in recent days.”
“We have nothing new to say. But we are aware of the issue. You must be aware that I have expressed UN’s concerns over the situation in Bangladesh,” he said.
