Ultimatum to recover occupied canals at Ctg

Housing and Public Works Minister Engineer Mosharraf Hossain said monsoon coming very shortly and by this time all illegally khals (canals) must be recovered from the illegal occupants .
The sets this time for smooth work of re-excation of khals and renovations of culverts, bridge and roads in the city . He directed the concerned officials while addressing the first meeting of monitoring committee yesterday .
He said either 20 or 16 khals according survey sheets, need to be recovered from the illegal occupants without any excuse. He said engineering core of Bangladesh Army will undertake the works of waterlogging projects of the city immediately.
 He further said Prime Minister specially approved the Chittagong water logging project at a cost of Tk.500 crores. In the CDA chairman Abdus Salam seeks cooperation from the govt agencies to implement the project successfully. CDA chairman sought cooperation from city corporation, WASA, Banar, PDB, WDB in connection. In the meeting among others, chief of the engineer core of Army Brig.Gen. Rezaul Karim, Secretary to Ministsry of Housing Md. Shahidullah, Mlanaging Director of CWASA Engr. Fazlullah , Board member of Chittagong Port M.Zafar Alam, Chief engineer of CCC Lt.col. Mohiuddin Ahmed, Exeutive Engineer of PDB Engr. Prabir Kumar sen, and other concerned officials were present in the meeting.
