Admission tests in two public schools held in Barisal

Tests for admission in class-three at two public schools of the city held on Sunday. Barisal city has only two secondary level public schools as 133 years old Government Zilla School for boys and 90 years old Government Sadar Girls School for girls. Sabina Sultana, headmaster of Zilla School and Mahbuba Begum, headmaster of Sadar Girls School, said the test held peacefully and properly. Total 1, 054 boys applied for 240 seats at Zilla School and 1, 148 girls applied for 240 seats at Barisal Government Sadar Girls School in two shifts of class-III. Total 2,161 children out of 2, 202 admission seekers participated in intake tests for total 480 seats of the both schools. Candidates had to answer 50-mark questions on Bengali, English, mathematics and general knowledge in the admission tests held from 10:00 am-12:00 noon. Students who will receive minimum 87 marks in admission test will get the chances to admit and result will be declared on early Monday, the headmasters of the schools informed.

Youth electrocuted in Jessore

UNB, Benapole

A young man died from electrocution in Bostapotti area of Jessore town early yesterday. The deceased was identified as Alim Hossain,22, son of Jinnat Hossain, a resident of Kasba Kanthaltala area. Mafijur Rahman, uncle of the deceased, said Alim came in contact with a live electric wire while he was pasting posters in favour of Awami League-supported candidate in the area at about 12:30 am.He was admitted to Jessore Medical College Hospital where he succumbed to his injures at about 1:15am. 2 killed, 5 injured in road accidents in Jhenidah.
