UK issues fresh travel advice in BD

banglanews24.com :Following the attack on a Shia mosque near Bogra on 26 November killing one and injuring three others, British government advised its nationals to remain particularly vigilant, move carefully and take appropriate security precautions during traveling to Bangladesh.The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) issued the advice on its website. In the travel advice, FCO said that there is a high threat from terrorism in Bangladesh. There have been a number of terrorist attacks since September 2015, including the murders of two foreign nationals and the attempted murder of an Italian priest.In addition, there have been two attacks on the Shia community in which three people have died and a knife attack at a police checkpoint in Dhaka in which one police officer was killed.The Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) has claimed responsibility for all of these attacks.’Further attacks targeting westerners may occur and could be indiscriminate. You should be particularly vigilant, consider your movements carefully and take appropriate security precautions,’ it added.’Keep a low profile in all public spaces and limit your attendance at events where westerners may gather, for example in hotels or conference centres,’ FCO advices its nationals. British High Commissioner in Dhaka Robert Gibson, in an statement, expressed his deep concern and condemned the attack on Shia mosque in Bogra. He also stressed on cooperation of global community to investigate the secret reason of the attacks.
